The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of characters residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans make a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
